of the Arab Organization for Dialogue, said that
there is a problem facing the
media in the joint dialogue, whether by the Arabs or the West due to reasons
related to the nature of the international political system on the one hand and
the nature of the media system itself on the other hand and distorted
stereotypes of Arabs and Muslims in Western media It has historical roots and
is due to many political, economic, social and cultural factors, and the Arabs
are characterized by terrorism, underdevelopment, violence against women and
other negative aspects. At a time when the Arab media is unable to present the
image of the Arab achievement
The message was presented to the media by the
Department of Dialogue of Civilizations at the League of Arab States, UNESCO,
the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the State Information Service
Dr. Hanan Yousef
presented a research and
visual presentation on the historical roots of the stereotypical image of Arabs
in the international media and the imbalance of information between the East
and the West and the development of a strategy on how the media can make
progress in intercultural dialogue through adopting a system of values based on
balance, impartiality, Cultural identity of the peoples with the need to invest
new communication technology in the communication between different
civilizations provided that the appropriate content for controversial issues in
the Arab-West dialogue
And called
for the need to train media professionals on the mechanisms and culture to
address the other and the creation of professional media methods based on
scientific foundations and information.
In addition
to activating the role of civil society organizations active in the field of
popular diplomacy among countries such as the Arab Organization for Dialogue
and International Cooperation
The
